Mara Neimanis, artistic director for In-Flight Theater, will be performing an excerpt from her new solo show premiering in February at the Creative Alliance about family, diabetes, and care giving for Feeding the People's Yin-Yang Ball on September 24, 2011. Mara Neimanis creates theatre in the air using trapeze and invented aerial apparatus that include floating and suspended steel sculptures. Drawing on traditions of Mask Performance, Clown, and Commedia dell’Arte, her work integrates circus arts with physical acting to create stories, text, and characters which explore the rich interplay of imagination between air and ground. Mara is a recipient of the 2011 B Grant Awards and teaches a variety of Aerial Classes for all ages in her studio at Load Of Fun, 120 North Ave at Howard.
